Though we mark it, track it, phenomenologically know it with a clock, time remains abstract.

I'm tempted to believe that image-making works this same way.
The frame doesn't reorganize material that was already there -- it de-organizes it.


It's not how the image becomes whole that attracts me to it
but how it refuses wholeness, separates before both the impatient and the calm eye.
