Often we remove nature [...] because it seems useless. We exclude it thinking that we are the real protagonists. But we are not the protagonists, because we are dependent on nature. We are the result of its evolution. I think to neglect nature is, from an emotional and artistic point of view, a crime. Above all it is stupid, because nature always gives us the sensation of truth.
- Andrei Tarkovsky in a 1978 interview

Where you are -- your literal location on a map
-- removed from the subjective experience of that location on a map
contains within it, always, a tone.
Nature,
in its varieties (which include the non-physical),
guides that tone.
Perhaps IS that tone.
